🧲 Earn the click in AI Overviews

POV: You finally start ranking on Google after infusing your unique POV into content.

Google just told us how to still win clicks despite AI summarizing everything. VP of Search Liz Reid says AI Overviews surfaces pages that people actually click into.

The biggest takeaway? Truly original content is the #1 way to earn clicks and get noticed by the AI algos.

  • “AI-generated” doesn’t necessarily = spam. Only generic, copycat content is counted as “AI slop.”
  • Users click on REAL content. Make it super duper duper clear that your content is based on your unique POV. In other words, ditch generic titles for headlines that Mr. Beast would use (just scroll through his YouTube to see what I mean).
  • Show expertise and craft. Google is “up-weighting” content based on real expertise. Infuse real stories, original research, and SME insights into your content.

According to Liz Reid, the system learns which formats (text, forums, video) users engage with most and adapts rankings accordingly.

To be honest, if you look at the SERPs these days, it’s pretty clear these factors were built into the latest algo update.

📧 Social posts that actually earn email subs

Is posting on social a valid way to grow email subs?

Growth in Reverse ran a 30-day social posting sprint. 128 people joined, 92 posted regularly, and they added a total of 14,031 followers.

The co-host, Dylan, earned 107 followers and 9 new subscribers. The host, Chenell, hit 501 new followers and 89 subscribers, driven mostly by 3 posts.

The #1 winner, Tom Orbach of Marketing Ideas, shared his lessons:

  • Your first 2 lines = 90% of success. Focus your hook to stop the scroll. “Use numbers in the hook.”
  • Images = the other 10%. Use faces in images. Use saturation to make photos more aesthetic. If it’s a screenshot, annotate it with arrows, highlights, and emojis.
  • Only focus on 1 idea per post. Every time he crammed multiple points into a post, it didn’t perform as well.
  • Only talk about your story if it helps others. In other words, make your story inspire, teach, or validate others.
  • Ditch your “professional” persona. Posts about your personal life are more likely to go viral.

Warning: Posting every day is a total grind that can easily lead to creative burnout.

I think you could supplement this problem by repurposing the in-depth content you already have (but you have to already have a repository of quality content).
